Starbucks is an American global coffee company and coffeehouse chain based in Seattle, Washington. It is the largest coffeehouse company in the world with over 21,000 stores across 63 countries. Starbucks serves hot and cold beverages, whole-bean coffee, teas, pastries, and snacks. Most stores also sell pre-packaged foods and hot sandwiches. Since opening its first store in 1971, Starbucks has expanded rapidly, opening an average of two new stores per day since 1987. It has become a trendy, profitable global brand, with almost one third of its stores now located outside the United States and Canada.
